The Government of Maharashtra has declared a drought in 12,000 villages in Vidarbha This will indeed enable the farmers to grow cotton, paddy and soybean across the region in availing the special drought package under the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) guidelines. These villages were earlier not eligible for the drought package.
Tata Stel UK has agreed to sell two of its steel plant in Clydebridge and Dalzell to the Scottish government, which will then sell them on to international metals group Liberty House. The company earlier announced that it will stop its European plate production. However later, instead of closing the production completely, the company decided to maintain them to enable plate production to potentially restart in the future

The Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) reported that the 18 day strike initiated by the jewellery industry has caused a loss of 60,000-70,000 crore to the jewellery industry.
