The Government of Maharashtra has declared a drought in 12,000 villages in Vidarbha. This will indeed enable the farmers to grow cotton, paddy and soybean across the region in availing the special drought package under the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) guidelines. These villages were earlier not eligible for the drought package.
