NASA scientists develop method to study fungi from space

A NASA led team of scientists developed a way of detecting the presence of different types of underground fungi attached to the roots of trees by studying the satellite images of a forest global Earth Observatory. These are known as mycorrhizal fungi and they spread underground for miles. By making this research the scientists will be able to study the impact of climate change on forest habitats and determine where forests will survive in the future.
