On Thursday, the government introduced the Aadhar Card as a money bill. This will now enable the government in the implementation of direct benefit transfer programme for subsidies. It also means Rajya Sabha will not be able to exercise its now customary veto to legislations moved by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
The bill will provide for good governance, efficient, transparent, and targeted delivery of subsidies, benefits and services, the expenditure for which is incurred from the Consolidated Fund of India, to individuals residing in India through assigning of unique identity numbers to such individuals
